Biography

Konrad Bleyer-Simon is a Research Fellow at the Centre for Media Pluralism and Media Freedom (European University Institute); he works on the Media Pluralism Monitor (focusing on information integrity, media viability and commercial independence), PROMPT (PROmoting media pluralism and transparency in Ukraine), as well as Media for Citizens and Democracy in the Digital Age (focusing on SLAPPs and AI in newsrooms) projects of the Centre. He’s also involved in the CMPF’s work related to countering disinformation.
In the previous years, he chaired chairs the EDMO Hubs Policy and Analysis Working Group, and led the Centre’s work on the feasibility of a European News Streaming Platform, on behalf of the European Parliament’s STOA Panel.
He frequently works with the Council of Europe, as an expert on disinformation and information integrity, and he holds a doctoral degree from the Human Rights Under Pressure joint program of the Freie Universität Berlin and the Hebrew University in Jerusalem, as well as a Master of International Affairs degree from Columbia University.
